Indonesian Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto said at a recent press conference that funds from palm oil export duties will be used to regulate cooking oil prices. Palm oil, the world's most consumed cooking oil, has achieved price increases for three consecutive years. And the main reason for the spike in palm oil prices is a lack of market efficiency, but not a shortage of supply. The global food inflation is likely to continue as supply chains are affected by bad weather, the new crown epidemic and labor shortages.

Its purpose is to ensure that only deforestation-free and legal products are allowed to be traded on the EU market.
