On the afternoon of 12 October, the Leaders' Summit of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) was held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, with the leaders of Russia, France, the United Kingdom and many other countries delivering speeches by video. French President Macron announced that France will no longer import deforestation-related products from other countries from 2030, and hopes that a commitment will also be made at EU level, and that more countries will join in. Russian President Vladimir Putin said he would support increased international cooperation on pressing issues such as the protection of animal and plant populations. In addition, all were unanimous in expressing their appreciation for the efforts of the host country, China, in biodiversity conservation.
