The purpose of this Forest Sustainability Knowledge Hub is to share news, reports and other content on the latest developments to stakeholders in the forest risk commodity supply chain, to help stakeholders share, co-create, research and build capacity to enhance the application of sustainable palm oil certified products and other forest friendly certified products, and ultimately to promote the industry and reduce deforestation risks.
On November 18, the RSPO, together with ICCO, Bumitama Gunajaya Agro (BGA), Sawit Sumbermas Sarana (SSMS) and The Borneo Orangutan Foundation (BOSF), will invite participants of the RSPO RT 2021 including RSPO members, RSPO stakeholders and youth representatives in the Asian-Pacific region, as well as Indonesian media partners, to explore the sustainability of oil palm and visit the oil palm plantations and forests reserve areas through a virtual Tour. This event aims to introduce and promote the value of sustainable palm oil that supports environmental sustainability. The event will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on November 18 via ZOOM. It will be conducted in Indonesian, with English subtitles and Indonesian to English simultaneous interpretation.
The COP26 World Leaders Summit 'Action on Forests and Land Use' event has concluded. As of 6 p.m. on November 12th, 141 leaders, accounting for more than 90% of the world's forests, have committed to work together to halt and reverse forest loss and land degradation by 2030 in the Glasgow Leaders' Declaration on Forests and Land Use.

The Parallel Session on Cooperation for Development Global Agricultural Trade and Rural Revitalization was held at the 4th Hongqiao International Economic Forum of CIIE in Shanghai, where anti-hunger became a hot topic. According to the speeches delivered by experts at the forum, countries should abandon trade protectionism, reduce the restrictions on the circulation of agricultural products, ensure the safety of international food trade, and promote new forms of business that make agricultural supply chains develop better. Only by building an efficient, inclusive, unimpeded and safe sustainable agricultural + food supply chain and maintaining the resilience of the global agricultural supply chain can we cope with the severe challenges of anti-hunger.
On November 6, ministers and high-level representatives from seven African countries will give a statement of progress in the development of a sustainable palm oil industry in Africa. Marking five years since the signing of the 'Marrakesh Declaration for Sustainable Development of the Palm Oil Sector', governments will share milestones in the implementation of commitments made at COP22 in Morocco in 2016, while highlighting the international action and financial investment required for future development.

On November 10, China and the US have agreed to boost climate cooperation over the next decade, in the U.S.-China Joint Glasgow Declaration on Enhancing Climate Action in the 2020s at the COP26 climate summit. They appreciate the intensive work that has taken place to date and the value of continued discussion. They recall their firm commitment to work together and with other Parties to strengthen the implementation of the Paris Agreement. They declare their intention to work individually, jointly, and with other countries during this decisive decade, in accordance with different national circumstances, to strengthen and accelerate climate action and cooperation aimed at closing the gap and take effective actions to address the climate crisis. The two sides intend to establish a "Working Group on Enhancing Climate Action in the 2020s", which will meet regularly to address the climate crisis and advance the multilateral process, focusing on enhancing concrete actions in this decade.
COP26 has concluded in Glasgow on Nov. 13, with 197 countries agreeing on the Glasgow Climate Pact which has finalised the outstanding elements of the Paris Agreement and reached some consensus on core issues including the use of coal, reducing carbon emissions and funding for climate-vulnerable countries. Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, said that the Glasgow Climate Pact was an important step but still a compromise, and that developed countries, financial institutions and technology holders should together help emerging economies reduce carbon emissions and accelerate their transitions to the green economy.

According to the pledge, these corporations will develop a “sectoral roadmap” by COP-27 aimed at halting deforestation and land degradation by the end of the decade amid a wider goal to cut greenhouse gas emissions and limit global warming to 1.5C.
At COP26 in Glasgow, Intertek Group announced its participation in the LEAF (Lowering Emissions by Accelerating Forest Finance) Coalition, a creative initiative designed to accelerate climate action by providing results-based finance to countries and residents committed to protecting their tropical forests to protect and restore the forest and land. The initiative is supported by the governments of Norway, the UK and the United States. Intertek will join 18 other companies, including Amazon and Unilever, to strive to achieve zero deforestation by 2030.
